Altar Guild
This ministry is in charge of cleaning, washing and the placement of linens in the church in accordance with the various liturgical seasons.

Altar Servers
This ministry is for young people, 4th grade and older, who have been baptized and who have received First Holy Communion. As an Altar Server you would be trained to assist the Priest during the Sunday mass.

Arts & Environment
This ministry focuses on the inner beauty of the Church. Volunteers are responsible for decorating the Church for the various liturgical seasons with banners, flowers, etc. This ministry is most active during the Christmas and Easter Seasons.

Baptismal Preparation
This ministry involves the teaching of a monthly class for parents and godparents as they prepare to baptize their child in the Catholic church. The class teaches parents and godparents about their role and their responsibility in the Sacrament of Baptism. This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome parents and children into our community!

Bible Study
We offer two Bible Study opportunities at Church of the Good Shepherd.
Bad Girls of the Bible meets each Tuesday night in the ministry building at 7 pm. For more information contact Patty Cadena at 439-3181.
Bible Study is aslo offered each Thursday evening in the ministry building from 7-8:30 pm. The Book of Genisis is currently being studied. For more information contact Ben Davi at 439-9279.
Catholic Youth Organization Basketball (CYO)
This ministry provides the opportunity for young children to develop strong moral character, self worth, interpersonal competence and a commitment to caring for others and their community through activities of a social, educational and recreational nature through the team sport of basketball. This program is for children from 3rd to 8th grade living in the City of Pittsburg. Season runs from October to January.

Eucharistic Ministers
This ministry involves helping our Parish Priests in serving Holy Communion at our sacred liturgies. This ministry is open to any adult who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation and who completes the necessary training.

Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick
This ministry brings Holy Communion to the homebound and sick of our parish. Requirements are the same as above but in this ministry you also must provide your own transportation to individual’s homes and care facilities.

Ministry of Hospitality
This ministry attends masses early to meet and greet the people coming through the church doors. Sometimes a friendly handshake or hello is enough and other times you will be needed to answer specific questions about the parish. Ultimately the goal is to make all feel welcome.

Ministry of Lector
The role of a lector is to clearly and prayerfully proclaim the Word of God at mass. A lector must be properly trained and installed by a priest in order to serve in this ministry. Participants must be baptized individuals who wish to participate more fully in the liturgical life of the parish.

Music Ministry
The goal of this ministry is to assist the worshipping community in song in order to foster a conscious and active participation in the liturgy through signing and the playing of musical instruments. Regular attendance at rehearsals and liturgies is required!
This ministry is open to people of all ages! In order to volunteer please see our music director Rocco Enea or any music ministry person after any mass.
Pastoral Council
This ministry acts as an advisory and consultative body to the Pastor. Members meet with the Pastor regarding a wide array of topics in order to enhance the parish’s growth and development. The Council meets on a monthly basis.

Rite of Christian Initiation For Adults (RCIA)
This ministry provides introduction and instruction to the Catholic faith for the non-baptized, for those baptized in another faith or those returning Catholics needing to complete their sacraments.

Spanish Ministry
This newly established ministry is working to find ways for the Spanish speaking people in our community to connect to the parish through liturgies and social activities.

Ministry of Stewardship
This ministry takes a lead in the development of programs that provide financial support to the parish as well as encourages parishioners to share their time and talents with the parish community.

Ministry of Ushers
This time honored ministry’s main goal is to accept the offerings of the faithful as well as to welcome them, seat them and guide them in receiving communion.
